16.7 β Enforcement Procedure
Federal procedure for investigating, seizing, and prosecuting cryptocurrency-related crimes.
A. Wallet Logging: βͺ All wallet addresses, involved must be documented by agents. βͺ Any crypto found must be reported to FIB or DOJ.
B. Cold Storage Seizure: βͺ Seized crypto is transferred to a government-controlled cold wallet. βͺ Agents must not hold seized assets personally or on personal wallets.
C. Chain Tracking Authorization: βͺ Tracking wallets through forensic tools (like Chainalysis) requires a warrant or internal approval.
D. Seizure Review Rule (72H): βͺ All crypto asset seizures must be reviewed by the DOJ within 72 hours.
E. Platform Cooperation: βͺ Exchanges operating must comply with federal subpoenas or audit orders. βͺ Failure to comply may result in a shutdown, search, or permanent ban on operating.
