13.1. LS Federal Aggravated Assault Act

Aggravated assault involves the intentional infliction of serious injury, or the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to cause harm. This includes assault with firearms, bladed weapons, blunt objects, or other dangerous instruments.

This offense includes:

  • Assault causing permanent or serious injury

  • Use of a firearm or lethal weapon in an attack

  • Targeting of minors, law enforcement, or public officials

  • Assault motivated by hate (race, religion, gender, orientation)

Charge Type: Felony Sentence: 80 Months Fine: $75,000 Aggravated Factors: Mandatory sentence of 100 Months if: β€’ Victim is a law enforcement officer β€’ Victim is a minor (under 18) β€’ Crime was hate-motivated or involved terrorism-related threats
